Members of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship sang “Mo Li Hua” (茉莉花) or “Jasmine Flower” and “Amazing Grace” at the Chinese New Year Festival at the University of Alabama in February 1992.

I found thnis quote in a daily devotional I get from beliefnet. It reminded me of things Al Baker taught us about social justice. We must always remember to never look down on anyone. The ground is always level at the foot of the cross.
Justice demands that we seek and find the stranger, the broken, the prisoner, and comfort them and offer them our help. Here lies the holy compassion of God.

One of the original “founding fathers” of fellowship, Greg Sanders, is getting married. He has asked me to spread the word. Greg and I are are the only two who “survived” Al Baker’s first call to discipleship nearly 22 years ago.
If you know Greg, please send him a message of congratulations. His email address is:

I do not have Craig and April’s email address (shame on me for that) so please share this with them. I ran into Greg at halftime of an Alabama football game this past fall. This was his message to me:
“Mike, I’m getting married on April 19 at the Trotter Center in Mississippi. Send my your address and I’ll send you and invitation. Talk to you soon. Greg. PS spread the word.”
Unfortunately I do not have the email address of some of my brothers and sisters from the fellowship back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. If you do, please send them a link to this post.
Those days were some of the best and most defining days of my life (and many of your lives) and my relationship to Christ. We all should thank God for the fact that Al and Heather Baker were faithful to God’s call on their life. Twenty two years later, God is still working through what they did at UA.

Just wanted to say quickly that the Lord blessed Karin and I with our first son on Thursday Night. His name is Micah David Holley. He weighs 7lbs., 8 oz., is 21 ” long, and he’s got already full head of blonde hair! He’s also the quietest baby I’ve ever seen, but I’ve been told that will probably change within a week.
I didn’t want to take up space with too many pictures again, so I’ll just mention our family website @ www.theholleywood.blogspot.com. Now that the kid is here, I’m going to have to update the site for the grandparents quite often.

After spending three years at Regent College in Vancouver BC working my Master’s in Biblical studies, Anne and I have moved to Calais Maine!!! Which is in the middle on nowhere right on the border with Canada. I’m still working for a software company. We have two children Christian who is almost 10 and Rebekah is almost 5.
